Kurdistan Oil and Gas Activity Map
To receive a poster-sized colour print of this map, please email Sophia Shane at or call 604-689-7842. A shaded relief map with the location of the Company's three blocks (Pulkhana, K42 and Arbat) in Kurdistan. Kurdistan Regional Government offered and awarded blocks are indicated along with hydrocarbon fields, Iraq Government report leads and petroleum and gas pipelines. Labelling denotes significant reservoir statistics and recent exploration success. Recent Local Finds
Shaded relief image with surface geology and major oil and gas reservoirs, recent discoveries and ShaMaran Blocks. The ShaMaran Blocks are located along major structural trends in a region of historic and recent discoveries. Nearby Drilling and Successful Neighbours
Prolific prospects/leads and reserves in and around the ShaMaran Blocks as indicated by Iraq Government report, 2003. Significant recent activity in the region has resulted in oil discoveries. Pulkhana Discovery
Oil was first discovered by the Pulkhana-5 well in 1956 that tested 2900 BOPD from the Euphrates and Shiranish formations. Well PPP-1, drilled in 2006, tested tight in the Euphrates and oil from Shiranish. Pulkhana and Shakal blocks
The Pulkhana Development/Appraisal prospect and the North Pulkhana lead are located along trend and updip of the Shakal-1 Discovery that tested 2450 BOPD from three zones over a 75m interval as reported in October, 2009 by Oil Search Limited. On Trend with Jambur Field
Location of Block K42 in southern Kurdistan amongst large oil and gas reserves and the prolific occurrence of prospects/leads sourced from a 2003 Iraq Government report. Block K42 is located adjacent to the Pulkhana field and directly on trend with the 1.1 BBO Jambur field. Arbat Block Overview
The Arbat Block is located adjacent to the Miran Block of Heritage Oil and Block 9 of Talisman Energy. There are three identified surface anticlinal features in the block that could, at depth, form a structural trap for oil accumulations. Also, an oil seep in the northern region of the block is evidence of an active petroleum system. The nearby Miran West-1 discovery tested 3640 BOPD with an estimated potential, announced by Heritage, of 8000 -10000 BOPD. Drilling is planned in 2010 of the neighbouring Miran East structure by Heritage, which is on trend with ShaMaran's Arbat Block. | |
